VISA INFORMATION

 

Foreign nationals who wish to visit Mongolia must obtain visas of appropriate types corresponding to the purpose of their visit. Nationals of those countries which have concluded visa exemption agreements with Mongolia are not required to obtain a visa if the intended period of the visit is not beyond the period allowed under such arrangements. For more information, please see “LIST OF VISA FREE COUNTRIES”. 

Starting from 4th of January 2023, the Government of Mongolia exempted tourist visas for citizens of Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Iceland and other 26 European countries and Australia and New Zealand until the 31 of December 2025. If you are citizen of the these countries and are travelling to Mongolia with the purpose of tourism, you do not need to get visa from Mongolian Embassy. However, if you are travelling with business or any other purpose, you need to get appropriate visas.

1. E-Visa

Purpose of visit: Sports and cultural events participants, and/ or media

Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Estonian and Islandic citizens wishing to travel to Mongolia to participate in sports or cultural and/ or arts events are eligible to apply via online to obtain e-visa.

E-visa shall be issued within 72 hours and delivered to your email address. Applicants are advised to have a copy of your e-visa to present to airlines and Mongolian border officials when traveling to Mongolia.

Important notice: If your intended stay in Mongolia is beyond that of the period allowed under the visa exemption arrangements, you must apply for an appropriate type of visa before you travel to Mongolia.

2. Business, Employment, Student, visiting family and friends Visa

• Application form
• Passport (must be valid for a minimum of 6 months before your intended travel to Mongolia)
• 3.5x4.5cm photo
• Invitation code from Mongolian immigration
• Visa fee /non-refundable/

3. Official/diplomatic visa
- Application form
- Passport (must be valid for a minimum of six months before your intended travel to Mongolia)
- 3.5x4.5cm photo (the size of the photo is mandatory)
- Official request by the sending authority or Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Foreign diplomatic missions
- Visa fee /may be waived depending on the purpose of the visit/

Visa processing time: 2 - 3 working days

 

Visa application procedure:

1. The applicant must drop off the visa application, passport and other related documents. 
2. The Applicant must pick up passport with visa by him/herself. In case the applicant cannot come to the Embassy to pick it up, an immediate family member or authorized person should pick up. However, an authorization must be sent to the Embassy with copies of the applicant's and authorized person's ID cards. 
3. If the applicant is unable to come in person, the application can be sent by mail to the Embassy, together with self-addressed and pre-paid return envelope /with sufficient stamps for recommended post -the Embassy will send your passport back by only recommended post/.
